Pye Road Meadworks is boutique Meadery in Odessa, Florida, a charming small community located 15 minutes north of Tampa International Airport. A true "mom and pop" winery, Matt and Debbie McDonough opened Pye Road in March of 2021 after almost two years of planning and construction with the goal of creating an upscale but casual spot featuring hand-crafted honey wines, sparkling session meads, and a top-notch selection of craft beers from national brewers on draft and to-go. Our space is casual cool, and we've got something on tap for everyone!
Pye Road is open on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) - see the front page for our address and current hours of operation! Be sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages to see current events and daily specials!
Mead (also known as honey wine) is an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. Mead is a dynamic beverage, and can have an alcohol content that ranges from about 3.5% ABV to more than 18%. What makes mead distinctive is that the majority of the fermentable sugar in mead is derived from honey, rather than fruit sugars or table sugars. Pye Road Meadworks offers exceptional fruited still meads designed to slowly sipped and savored, along with delicious, fruited sparkling lower ABV meads ("session" meads) for those hot Florida days!
Where Imagination Meets Balance
Our slogan is "Where Imagination Meets Balance." For us, mead making is the intersection of creativity, detail, and passion, and our incessant attention to detail helps us make mead that's been internationally recognized. We have combined a love of craft and community with a desire to push boundaries and explore what mead can be. We strongly believe in sourcing from local resources whenever possible, and believe that even the smallest details matter.
Above all, we strive for balance in all that we create. We hope that you’ll find our meads to be accessible, balanced, and delicious!
