Pye Road Meadworks is a small meadery currently under construction in Odessa, Florida, a charming small community located 15 minutes north of Tampa International Airport. We began construction on our commercial location in October of 2020, and anticipate being able to begin commercial production in late 2020 or early 20201. Be sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages and stay informed about our developments!
Mead (also known as honey wine) is an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. Mead is a dynamic beverage, and can have an alcohol content that ranges from about 3.5% ABV to more than 18%. What makes mead distinctive is that the majority of the fermentable sugar in mead is derived from honey, rather than fruit sugars or table sugars. Pye Road Meadworks mead is primarily still (non-carbonated) and sweet, although we do plan to offer sparkling lower ABV meads ("session" meads) and the occasional dryer (less-sweet) wine.
Where Imagination Meets Balance
For us, mead making is the intersection of creativity, detail, and passion. We have combined a love of craft and community with a desire to push boundaries and explore what mead can be. We strongly believe in sourcing from local resources whenever possible, and believe that even the smallest details matter.
Above all, we strive for balance in all that we create. We hope that you’ll find our meads to be accessible, balanced, and delicious!
